It has been an incredible year for the gaming world with tons of games released worldwide. Some exclusive to their consoles whereas a majority across multiple platforms. 2019 is just around the corner and 2017 gave us some incredible games and were going to share the best ones up till now. Even though there have been great releases in 2018 like Red Redemption, Spider man, FIFA 19 and tons more, we are focusing on how the games of 2017 performed throughout 2018.

Call of Duty: WWII
Call of Duty: WWII was released on November 3rd, 2017 and it made over $500 million within three days of its release. It has a total of over 23 million players over all platforms which include PC, PS4 and Xbox one. It received positive reviews and praise for its story, game play, health return, zombies and multiplayer mode. However, many fans believe that the game lacked innovation and was quite similar to previous COD games.
NBA 2K18
NBA 2k18 sold over 6 million copies within a month of its release which was on September 19, 2017. As of October, 2018 it has sold over 10 million copies. The reception from different platforms was mixed to poor. However, it was generally praised by PlayStation users and ironically won the biggest disappointment and best graphics/presentation award at the same time.
Destiny 2
Destiny 2 received praise for its many improvements over Destiny. The original Destiny received much criticism for its story, but Destiny 2 was praised as having a much better and an actual characterized villain. It was the second highest selling game in North America behind COD. The game was nominated for “Best PC Game” IGN’s Best of 2017 Awards along with nomination for “Game of the Year”, “Best Xbox One Game”, “Best Shooter”, “Best Graphics”, “Best Original Music”, and “Best Multiplayer”.
Super Mario Odyssey
Super Mario just cannot stop doing wonders every year. It has been among the bestselling games of all time and odyssey was just great. Exclusively for Nintendo, it was released worldwide on October 27, 2017. It was Nintendo Switch’s bestseller, with 11.17 million copies sold by June 2018. Critics have praised the games creativity and originality and some even calling it one of the best of the series. It has been nominated for game of the year.
Far Cry 5
Far Cry 5 was released in March, 2018 and received the most positive critical reception upon its release. The open world design, visuals, and soundtrack were highly praised but the storyline and characters raised some negative reviews. The game was highly successful and became the fastest-selling Far cry game in the franchise, grossing over $310 million in one week upon its release. After-sale downloadable content packs have been released to add to the gaming experience and the game is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V: It is still up there even in 2018 with over 95 million copies sold since its release and over $6 billion in the bank. As of today, it is the third bestselling game of all time. The fact that it has been released for older platforms like PS3 and Xbox 360 also gave it an edge when released with their flagship consoles. The game received many awards including Most Immersive Game at the Inside Gaming Awards. As of 2018, it still outperforms many top games and is the most profitable entertainment product of all time.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins
In November 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins sale during its first 10 days was double that of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, while player engagement also saw an increase. One of the best feature of this game is the ability to digitally download it which was praised by the critics. The game play and story line are as good as they come with the exception of Syndicate which was the worst game in the series. In other news, Assassin Creed Odyssey is set to be released this month so you can expect the sales and price to go down with the new release.
FIFA 18 and FIFA 19
FIFA has been voted as the best multiplayer game of all time. Every year we witness great changes in graphics, game play and multiple features the game has to offer. Some players weren’t too happy with their ratings but they really loved the game. As of 2018, over 24 million copies of different versions have been sold and with the release of FIFA 19, the sales are expected to boom like every year. This year, it would be the first time that the Champions League is introduced in the gameplay which is a smart and much needed innovation the game severely lacked. The games are available on almost every console and platform with tons of online features the fans will love.
