Captain Marvel

It’s finally here or rather she’s finally here. Captain Marvel has finally crash landed into the MCU and fans couldn’t be more excited after the release of the first trailer. We all remember Thor’s entrance in Wakanda and this trailer ended with Super Saiyan Denvers where she finally finds herself as the plot suggests. We know trailers are always misleading so we’re just going to focus on enjoying it and awing the debut of probably Marvel’s strongest Avenger. Captain Marvel is the most anticipated next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set to premiere in March, and the debut trailer for this Brie Larson–led outing is high on thrills and throwbacks but is low on new information about the plot. We do feel that this movie will paint a good picture of what to expect in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Here is a glimpse of the trailer in case you missed it.

As you probably noticed, the plot of the trailer revolves around Carol Denver’s amnesia. She is presented as human and has flashes of memories about life on Earth which include a Little League game and some experience in the Air Force. She doesn’t have many details of her memories or can’t tell if they’re even real. So we can expect this movie to be about finding herself and how she fits into all that is going on in the universe around her. It will also solve the mystery as to where she has been all this time and we can expect the post credit scene at the end of the movie itself to connect her directly with the Infinity War by answering to the distress call via pager that Nick Fury sent before he turned to dust.

Coming back to Captain Marvel herself and the movie being set in the 90’s, here are a few things we can expect to be going on and what the plot could possibly be;

1. Kree-Skrull War

Kree-Skrull War

Phase 4 of the MCU is just around the corner and it has been confirmed that Captain Marvel will feature the mythology of the Kree-Skrull War. As you can see in the picture, Carol punches an old lady who we can expect to be a Skrull which are shape shifting aliens. In the comics, the Skrull were a race of aliens whose home world was destroyed by Galactus and the Skrulls tried to invade Earth and make it their new home. This could be the story line after Thanos is defeated and the Skrulls finally carry out their plan which eventually draws the attention of Galactus, the next big bad in the MCU.

2. Nick Fury Plays A Bigger Role Than Expected

We know that this movie will feature younger versions of Nick fury and Agent Coulson. One of the most famous Nick Fury quotes from the MCU is, “There was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people, see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to fight the battles we never could. Captain Marvel might just be the trigger which led to the Fury working for the Avengers Initiative. Captain Marvel looks like she’ll be away from Earth at the end of the movie so this is where Nick Fury starts to assemble. As he said, “I know a renegade soldier when I see one”, he could be referring to Black Widow, Captain America or even the Winter Soldier which he knew was active in the 90’s.

3. 90’s Nostalgia

90’s Nostalgia

This will be the first MCU movie to be featured in the 90’s so millennials will definitely feel the throwback. This will not only feature the 90’s setting but also music, dialogue, pop culture, and fashion. Marvel has a unique way to connect with their audience and even though this debut would not be as big as the infinity war due to obvious reasons but it could lead to bigger things in the future.
