Snapchat update has literally rocked the entire social media circle. There has been a fierce criticism on the app – for causing annoyance to its users.
The update has completely changed the app layout – making it less user-friendly, while immediately receiving backlash from millions of worldwide users.
In December, 2017, Snapchat began rolling out its app update, implementing sweeping changes to the app’s existing design. The latest update now has a single section (friend’s panel) for both chat and story. Earlier stories were presented in a chronological format.
But now, Snapchat update has set an algorithm “Best Friend Algorithm” that will only feature stories of your friends whom you often communicate with.
Official statement by Snapchat concludes that: Celebrities will be features separately – almost reducing social interaction between celebs and their fans.
Users are furious with the new Discover page. They are still confused how to manage their stories and view stories of others. The social media is flooded with complaints, most users calling and finally ending up rating the Snapchat update app as “dumb” & “annoying” – not good for the brand at least.
Bring back the old Snapchat is the demand of the masses. However, the internet is loaded with news that Team Snapchat is ignoring all such demands. In reaction to the snapchat update, people have gone berserk over mainstream media & social platforms.
More than 800,000 people have signed an online petition asking Snapchat to revert its update back to the original design. The petition has been authored by an Australian “Nic Rumsey”, hosted on www.change.org “Remove the new Snapchat Update”.
Users are heading toward VPN app to retrieve their old Snapchat version. Although, Norton’s Nick Shaw has warned users not to resist from updating their Snapchat apps.
“Device and application updates also have the important function of fixing bugs and patching security vulnerabilities to protect consumers from the latest security threats.” He said.
In the course of recent debates, Snapchat has dropped to a 1.9 rating in the app store due to the outburst by its users. Snapchat update has outraged millennials and celebrities – with most of them protesting that the new Snapchat interface is cluttered.
